I agree - Gasol will likely start the season a Grizz. I think Gasol can be a top player in the leaue and agree he needs a stronger supporting cast.

I still think his defensive awareness and rebounding are suspect. He gets some blocks and rebounds, but no one would accuse him of dominating the paint on the defensive end. He needs to lead the team on defense so the coach doesn't have to over emphasize (like Fratello did).

We also need someone who can create his own shot. Miller is basically a spot up shooter (who is also suspect on defense). Rudy Gay must step up here.

I'm not 100% opposed to a Gasol trade, but I favor waiting and seeing, and from what I read at the Commercial Appeal, he seems to be onboard for now...

I just really liked Porter in Milwaukee and I like his toughness. Also, I want no part in Zach Randolph. The one plus for Memphis has been that we have not had any criminals or off the court issues and with our fragile fanbase, I want to keep it that way. I would not take on Randolph and IMO he is definitely not worth the #4 pick.

Hmmm....I agree with most of your thoughts, but disagree with others.

- I'm not sold ton Terry Porter as coach.

- I'd like either Griffin from PHX or Pesti from San Antonio. Frankly, both guys have done well with their respective franchises, although Kiki V. would be an interesting choice as well.

- I like the idea of making some trades in the first round to acquire add'l picks, however I don't think Boston would give up the #5...and I certainly do NOT want Telfair. He's been nothing but a high school phenom, and why take him when you have Lowry on the roster?

Playing fantasy GM, what about a trade with:

A) Portland...they want Conley to go along w/Oden, what about the #4 plus Brian Cardinal for Zach Randolph and Sergio Rodriguez? We get the inside bruiser, a PG that can run and score, plus we get rid of Cardinals contract.

OR

B)Would Charlotte be interested in moving up from #8 to #4 to get either Yi or Horford? They have two first-rounders, so perhaps we could parlay that into one of Brewer/Green/B. Wright/J. Wright AND later in the draft perhaps T. Splitter from Brazil or Sean Williams from Boston College.

OR

C) We know that Paxson wants Gasol, but they'll have a tough time matching salaries to make it work under NBA rules. Hmmm, would they be interested in Yi or Horford? What would they be willing to sacrifice?

This is fun to talk about, and without the insider's knowledge I realize it's just pure speculation...but it's still fun!
